Thank you for your insight. I will follow up with previous owner/lawyer to ensure that prior eviction proceding is still valid and that the tenants are held to it. Thanks again.

I recently purchased a property with holdover tenants. They are two months behind on their rent and are in eviction proceedings with the previous owner/landlord. Does my new tenure at owner/landlord nullify the existing eviction process? Do I have to start over?

Have the previous owner “assign” the eviction cases to you. what state are you in?

No, not that I know of, they (the tenants) have a court date coming up next week under the previous owner’s eviction case.

What are my options?

Contact the lawyer/previous owner and stay on top of eviction. The tenants are your problem now if you already closed on the building…make sure the previous owner shows up to court…it is not cool to close with tenants in building unless it is in contract (worked out)

good luck
