The legislature is exempt from wage and hour laws and the Feds are also exempt from labor relations laws (remember when all the air traffic controllers got fired just because their union went out on strike). They make it easy on themselves and hard on the rest of us.
Well, the neighborhood can go bad really quick, when a drug dealer moves in!threats to my tenants and myself and property! seems like other renters just put up with it.all because of one slumlord! where to start? ideas? thanks

or another owner’s. Can the police help with a neighborhood watch? Is there any violation on the property that could be reported to code enforcement? Basically you need to get the attention of the authorities and the owner in any way you can so the dealer decides its easier to move. In some jurisdictions, failure of the landlord to evict someone like this can result in their losing ownership of their property. Anything like that where you are? Any way to get that ball rolling.
I went to a Treasury Dept auction in Phoenix a couple years back. They were selling this nice ranch property with large barn and so on. I talked to a couple neighbors who were looking the house over and found that they were cops. In fact, almost all the people living in this neighborhood of 1+ acre houses were cops. The house for sale was owned by a guy running a meth lab. The large barn had five 220v outlets used to run the cookers. The roof was warped from the heat inside and out. The guy I was talking to was the arresting officer. They arrested the guy 3 days after he started cooking meth. One side note - the Feds are exempt from disclosure and did not admit to it being a meth lab, which in AZ can only be remediated by tearing down the building and treating the debris as toxic waste. So they guy who won the auction, for an above market bid, got the shaft from Uncle Sam.
When I had that I would advertise vacancy in the police station. I wanted to go so far as to put police officer discounts but that was something I was convinced not to do. Although at the last convention I went to a speaker encouraged things like that, so in hind sight I would put in my advertisement Police welcomed and put the papers where the cops would see.
I thought long and hard how low I could go with rent for a cop and came up with an amount.
Perhaps the next vacancy could be advertised that way.
Why not just report the activity and have the cops check it out?
