Call the county extension office. They might be able to give you some input on safely getting rid of the pidgeons without hurting the neighbor’s homes.

Help! PIDGEONS have taken over property !!! - Posted by GaryB

There is a triplex that I saw. It has no one living in it, and from the outside, it looks unkempt and in disrepair. Upon closer examination the reason why nobody lives there becomes clear. Pidgoens!!! Pidgeons have claimed the roof of this house as their hang-out spot. So you have pidgeon dooty all over the house and on the sidewalk in front of, and on the side of the house.

I can imagine that in this state, the owner will be glad to get rid of the house. So it got me thinking:

  1. Is there anyway to permanently evict these pidgeons from that roof forever? It appears that the piudgeons have claimed the roof of this property for years, and it basically now belongs to the pidgeons as a matter of course. Is there a way to bounce these birds once and for all?

  2. Assuming I buy this property and successfully bounce these pidgeons permanently from the roof of this property, what if they simply moveo to the roof of the adjacent building that belongs to someone else. Will the owner of the newly pidgeon-crashed building sue me. Will he have a case?

If I can answer these questions, I may be able to pick up this property and make something out of it. Any thoughts, comments, opinions? Thanks.

Adverse Possession - Posted by Natalie Smith

It sounds to me like the birds are trying to make a claim of adverse possession.

Are they being open and hostile?
Are they paying the property taxes?
Do you have to give them a 5 day notice to evict?
Can you send the notice by pigeon carrier?

Can one of the attorneys speak to this?
