Has any one heard of - Posted by Andre

Hello,
I am a Newbie who just went to two different real estate seminars hosted by Al Lowery and Richard Powelson respectively. Both spoke of their extensive real estate experience. Both were offering programs after seminars. I basically would like to know has anyone heard of them and if so what if any experience have they had with either or both of these gentlemen respectively.

Thank You,
Andre

I attended Lowery seminars back in the 80’s. Lowery went bankrupt around 1986 or so. He was the Carleton Sheets of the times. He is still doing seminars in FL, I hear.

Al Lowery was the king of the 80’s real estate seminar rage. It was always fun to hear that Al was coming to town, and we used to bet dinners on what hair piece he’d be showing up wearing (there was this curly thing you’d have to see to believe). Lots of books and tapes, and more initials after his name than you could fit on a business card.

Powelson was the big “buy real estate with zero coupon bonds” guy. He has lots of off the wall ideas and had a course "Be a Whinner in Real Estate. Lots of 20 minutes tapes with ideas that sounded real good but in actual use . . . not so hot. Spent many a late night playing cable commando trying to figure out if that hair of his was real too.

…was when I watched someone corner “Dr. Richard Powelson” at a convention - about his doctorate. Boy did he squirm. It happens that his degree is from a mail order University. In other words - BOGUS - he bought it.
