JP: We need a “LANDLORDING FORUM” - Posted by GaryB

Posted by GaryB on January 04, 2005 at 22:06:46:

Hello Jeanne and JP:

I suggest that you establish a “LANDLORDING FORUM” on this site. Right now landlording issues are addressed, hodge podge, in the various forums. But I foresee a forum that is dedicated to all aspects of landlording: legal issues; regulatory issues; tenant issues; maintenance issues; operational issues etc.

As you are aware Creonline investors are either “buy and holders/landlords”, or “quick flip artists”. A lot of material on these various forums is well suited for the quick flip artist, but while we have some for the buy and holders/landlords, we need more, hence the need for a LANDLORDING FORUM.

I suggest that you establish a “LANDLORDING FORUM”, and recruit three persons to moderate the forum:

  1. An experienced landlord-tenant/Real Estate attorney (more emphasis on landlord/tenant), for the tenant/legal issues.

  2. A seasoned landlord who has owned at least 40 rental units for at least 20 years (for operational coverage), and

  3. An experienced home improvement type professional who is knowledgeable about the physical structures and systems of houses, their issues and how to repair them. This would be the go to guy for HVAC, boilers, furnaces, mold remidiation foundation cracks, things of that nature.

I think this is a good idea. Can we also hear other people’s suggestions, comments and thoughts regarding this.

Thanks

I agree, and would add that a forum dedicated to rehabs would also be nice.
