Dear Fellow Investors,

We lost a true friend today…Ernie Kessler. Ernie… The King of Foreclosures… was a friend and mentor to many an investor. He passed away in his condo this morning.

Please take a minute to remember him and all he has done for us.

If Ernie has touched your life and you’d like to share… please post here. We’d love to read it.

Sincerely,

Bill and Dwan Twyford

Ernie looked so healthy on the national reia cruise this past February to Central America. He was making plans to do some more training stuff and joint ventures… and then this sudden heart attack. Very, very sad. He was one of the giants on the national reia circuit.

We all better have our ducks in a row, folks. The end comes for all of us, unannounced. I know his death has got me reflecting on how I’m living my life. There is more to life than successful real estate investing.

I first met Ernie back in the mid 80’s when he was first starting to teach. He used to hold monthly meetings around the DC and Baltimore area where he would teach on a different topic each month. Here he honed his skills as a promotor and in later years when I saw him he was truly masterful. He could sell ice to Eskimos. Over the years he organized some of the best educational events I have ever been to. Last September I attended his Foreclosure Summit in Washington where he had a mix of speakers selling their courses and also ordinary investors that spoke on their niche in real estate investing. It was a great event. I will miss Ernie and hope he finds eternal peace. For anyone interested his funeral is Sunday at 11 AM at the Stanetsky-Hymanson Memorial Chapel, 10 Vinnin St., Salem, MA.

I am one of the lucky ones that can call Ernie one of my mentors. He was the head of our Washington REIA. I learned of his passing listening to Ohio’s REIA program on (i think it is wkxu.org). One thing I can say about Ernie is that he knew his trade well. He will be seriously missed and I am grateful to have had him as one of my mentors. My thoughts & prayers go out to his family.

I remember going to my first real estate club meeting and Ernie was the guest speaker.
He changed my whole outlook on my future in a very positive way.
I believe everything happens for a reason, and I know there was a reason I was sitting there that night listening to him speak.
I’m sure he had a hand in changing the direction of many other’s lives.

Ernie Kessler obituary - Posted by Kathi (OH)

The following obituary was sent of members of OREIA by Vena Jones-Cox:

The real estate world has lost a stellar educator, a staunch advocate, and a great friend today with the untimely death of Ernie Kessler.

Ernie started his real estate career more than 20 years ago buying foreclosures in the Washington DC area. After a quick ries to the top of the real estate field, he discovered a call to teach others to do the same, and was a major geru for investors all over the United States, Canada, and Australia. He also served as president of the National Real Estate Investors Association and several local associations in the Baltimore and DC areas.

Although financially successful beyond the wildest dreams of most of us, Ernie will be best remembered for his warmth, quick wit, deep faith, and devotion to family. His sudden passing cuts short a life that was lived to the fullest every day. Ernie will be deeply missed by his many friends, students, and all who benefited from knowing him.
