Maybe, but each PD has its own rules (e.g., you can only put it
through the bank once) & they don’t like going after every bad
piece of paper. However, since it is for $500, it might have a
better chance. I wouldn’t expect a problem in court, but it is
always good to anticipate one. Laws vary from state to state, but
in my experience in NC a tenant who continues to pay rent is
considered a “holdover,” & a Rental Agreement continues in effect,
even if expired.

Here is my question. I leased a property and then sub leased to someone else on a option to purchase. They gave me money down, paid rent payments although several times the checks bounced. They moved out, leaving me with a check for 500 that was no good. She has plead not guilty and doesnt want to pay the check. What do I need to do to make sure I succeed in court? Here is a problem however. Our contract ended in february, she stayed until april, but March rent is the check that bounced. I know, I know I should have got her out of the house sooner, but i cant make up for it now. Please any advice will help me. This is a first court appearance like this for me.
