There are services out there that you can use and charge you on a per-report basis. You’d, of course, have to submit written authorization from the individual to pull their credit report.

How do you professionals get a good credit report on somebody without subscribing to a credit report agency?

I have used Northland Services for several years. Last time I ran one it was $8. They return the report by fax. 800-905-8774 Also saw this somewhere, but haven’t tried it yet - ‘www.northcs.com/norser/

I get my credit reports from a company called National Tenant Network. For $15, they will give you the usual credit report along with a history of evictions that are recorded on the public record. It has saved me from renting to some really lousy tenants. You don’t subscribe to the service, you just fax them a request when you need to and you pay only for what you need.
