No law that I am aware of, however it is on all of the “realtor approved” offers for purchase. (Georgia Realtor Association) I usually try to avoid earnest money issues by ensuring the seller that I am serious, and if necessary, I’ll try a promissory note for $250.00 payable after acceptance of home inspection. Sounds rediculous, but people have accepted it.

Does anyone know what the law says in Georgia about earnest money? How much is enough in Georgia or is it an issue at all?

Hey, I would like to introduce you to a service that would give you access to your own law firm and give you the ability to ask about any laws and then you would know legaly what you can or can’t do. Thanks, Mike 803-285-5190
