I just thought this was funny. Apparently they’re running some sort of ad campaign in NJ about housing. I saw a new billboard today and one of my friends told me that they’re all over now. I don’t know who’s paying for it, I guess the state, but the billboards read:
“I can’t find a home in New Jersey.”
And they apparently all have a different person on each one. They all look upset, too. Not that I’m laughing at other peoples misfortune, but I just thought it was funny that they have to resort to billboard ads to get this point across. Just goes to show you what type of Real Estate market NJ has. I don’t know exactly what the billboards are supposed to accomplish, but hey, hopefully some more people get housing they can afford. Just thought I’d share.

Maybe it’s some developer who plans on doing some large-scale low income housing. It’s a pretty common ploy that advertisers do prior to announcing a new product or initiative. It’s called “Conditioning the Market.” The idea is so that people will hear about the plans and say to themselves, “Oh, that’s right. People can’t find homes in New Jersey.”

Chances are the billbords are a real estate investor. I CAN’T FIND A HOME, instead of WE BUY HOMES. It says the same thing, right?

Is this billboard trying to say that the people shown on it are blind, stupid, or just too slow at making offers? Obviously there are plently of homes for sale throughout the entire state. Maybe the prices are too high or they are selling quickly, but there are still plenty of homes to buy. I mean aren’t there about a million or so homes in that state?

my local market has really changed. All summer, homes around here were selling in days, if not hours. Now there are 90 homes sitting on the market. Our property taxes, which were already insane, just went up another 10%. I think the seller’s market may have come to a halt.

That’s funny! I haven’t seen them yet but what a true statement. The market is fast as %$#%$ here.
Not easy for RE investors to get deals. They sell like hot cakes around me.
However, I’m sure this will not continue forever. Especially with our present governor screwing the state up. Business will slow due to his policies and in time things will calm down.
I talked with a realtor last week and she said she has been overun with new “RE investors” in the state. Presumably, money moving out of the market into RE.
