I’m fairly new at this too but I do know that you can go the county courthouse to locate the owners. So far I’ve been successful in locating the owners of abandoned properties I’ve found. It was so simple. I found mailing addresses. From there I’d call information for the phone number. I hope this helps.

I went driving around today in a nice neighborhood, and I found three abandoned properties. I was wondering if anyone out there had a favorite technique that works for them on acquiring these properties?? I am new to Real Estate Investing (looking to rehab), and my Father-in-law is willing to put ALL CASH DEALS down and split the profit 50/50. Any good advice?

Yes, check this site’s archives for ‘abandoned properties’. Also, educate yourself as much as possibe BEFORE investing someone else’s (particularly a family member) money in real estate. There’s a reason why they say that family and business don’t mix.

John,

Great question. I am a newbie and this is a good question to ask. If no one (or only 1 person) answers in 24 hours…reask the question. There are alot of people that need to read the post if you get some good answers. Also, check the archives.
