The lawyer’s number is for the lawyer handling
the legal aspects of the foreclosure for the
foreclosing bank. The lawyer won’t help much
regarding short sales - call the foreclosing bank
instead.

foreclosure sale question? - Posted by Matt(MA)

I notice on the list of foreclosure sales, that each property has an lawyers’s phone#. I am interested in trying a short sale and am learning all that I can first, so I have a couple of questions.

What does the lawyer’s # matter to me?

Shouldn’t I always speak with the person who is in foreclosure directly?

Any imput would be helpful

Thanks,
Matt

Matt:

In order to negotitate a short sale, you must first have a contract to purchase with the property owner… Unless you have talked to the owner, and they have an interest in selling to you, then you have the cart before the horse…

The role of the Atty is to recover the collateral for the Lender… They aren’t much interesting in holding a conversation with a third party, as this is primarily a waste of time for them. So save your nickel on that call…

Just the way that I view things…
