I know of a house for sale for 59K. A yr ago it was 80K. It needs alot (maybe) of work but I don’t know how to figure out how much($)work. How (or who) do/can I go about getting/estimating the cost of repairs? Kind of a broad question. I’m guessing that it could be worth around 110K to 120K. OK yes it does need some work. Even if this doesn’t sound good, the question still stands for future ref.

The best way “to know”…is to form a network of repairmen/people who give FREE estimates of repairs. Have them go in and get your figures. After you have done this a couple of times you’ll be able to figure it in your head.
NOTE: always use people who give free estimates.
You can get a good list of people from local real estate agents, at least a starting list.
