I have an address of a vacant house, I have no owner information at all, no name or nada. The neighboors also do not have any info about the owneres since the house been vacant so long.
Where do you guys go to find out who owns a piece of property.
I have also tried tax assesor and such. I only found one site and they charge $25 for their service.

Thanks very much for any info offered.

Since it’s NYC I would check with the tax collectors office, they have to be billing someone, I would also get a copy of the deed, this would be my starting point. Because this is NYC and no one has seen the owner for a long time, I would check the East River, just kidding.

Once you have a name and some kind of reference point, check for liens on the property, they may know something, then check public records such as divorce and death, and voter registration. There are a ton of places to look but try to find a neighbor who lived there at the time the owner was there. I once found an owner because a neighbor who said she didn’t know anything about the owner, did remember seeing an electrical truck often parked out front at night when they first moved into the property.

Research the property and if it seems like a possible deal then spend the money on a good data service and find him/her, but get as much info as you can to identify your target first. I once used a service that was able to reduce my search to 432 suspects, never used it again. But I’m sure there are some people out here with some good suggestions.

If you will post where you are located, someone in your area may be able to help more.

You should be able to get the information at the county courthouse. Many of the counties near where I am located have property tax information online.
