Financial Calculator - Posted by David

I just bought a financial calculator and I am running through the sample problems in the manual and on Lonnies article and when I get to the part where I press “CPT” “PMT” I get an error every time. It is a Texas Instruments BA II Plus. What am I doing wrong? Or is this calculator defective?

Thanks, David

I think you need to clear and reset. - Posted by Tim_Cleveland

David:

I have the same calculator. Every once in awhile I get the same problem. Also what can happen is that it gives you a number that is actually wrong. This happens when you have changed the setting on the calculator. What you need to do id this. Press [2nd], [CLR TVM] (this is the 2nd function over the [FV] button)

Then press [2nd] [Reset] (this is the 2nd function over the [+/-] button)
The screen will say: RST ?
Press [ENTER], screen will say RST 0.00
Press [CE/C]

And you shoudl be good to go. I am to the point that I do these steps before evry calculation so that I am sure it set to defaults.

Hope this helps.
