Do land contracts need recording in MI? - Posted by Dean C.

I don’t believe it is a statutory requiremen to record a land contract instrument in Michigan. I am also not sure you want to record such an instrument anyway as it allows your affairs to become public knowlege.

A better way to represent that you have an interest in the Real Property is to have a “memorandum of interest” or some similar type document executed and recorded. This will serve to put the world on notice that you in fact have an interest without necessarily dislcosing the specific terms and conditions of your purchase or sale as the case may be.

To your success,

I have been researching MI Compiled Law on the net and still
can’t determine it. Anyone know?
