I recently sold my house in Orange County to a buyer about 30 days ago. He has communicated to us that they have found that in one of the showers there is a pipe which has broken below the house and roots are obstructing the flow of water which is causing a back-up. We were not aware of this problem because we never used the shower. The home inspection did not catch the problem either before the house was sold. They new owner wants me to pay for the costs of the repair and is threatening legal action if I do not. Does California Real Estate Law require the seller to pay for this kind of problem after the house has been sold.
