Dealers license in NY - Posted by Dianne

Dianne,
I’ve been doing Mobile Home deals in N.C. for a couple of years. There is no license needed here to be a private investor! If you plan on buying a park, or starting a corporation or LLC, you would probably have to atleast have a business license. But if you’re just buying properties and renting, or flipping, I don’t think you would. (Won’t Swear on it!) Try Findlaw.com.
May give you some insight! Good Luck!

I just bought Lonnie’s book and want to do some MH deals. Can anyone tell me how I would go about finding out if a dealers license (or any other type of license) is required in NY to do these deals? And other restrictions/requirements that may apply. Thanks for your help.

NO license Needed in NY…also you don’t
have to pay(or collect) sales tax.

Hi Diane, As Lonnie says in his books you need to check with your dept. of Motor Vehicles or equivilate.
Another useful phone number and address in NY is:

New York Manufactured Housing Association
421 New Karner Road
Albany, NY 12205
(518) 464-5087
Good Luck
