What are the tax consequences of rentals in a C corp?

Corporation or Land Trust - Posted by mike

I just opened my own corp. to transfer my investment property into. My only concern is having my corportation hold title to all of my properties. If something every happened to my corp. then all of my properties are in jeapordy.

Would a Land Trust be a safer way to keep all of my properties independent from each other and exclude me from being liable?

Please, any help would be appreciated.

  1. Land trusts are used in CONJUNCTION with an entity. They provide privacy, not liability protection.

  2. A corporation is rarely the right way to hold real property. C-corps are wrong for holding RE 95% of the time. Nevada C-corps are wrong 99% of the time.
