coop’s responsibility - Posted by joyce

If a shareholder pushes another tenant on the elevator
isn’t this a coop matter?
My boyfriend was pushed in the elevator by a shareholder and the managing agent informed me in writing that
this is a personal issue not a coop matter.

Wow…so CoOp should be responsible for whatever any fool on their property does playfully or maliciously, on his own, that the CoOp could neither predict or control?
Again, just wow.

If there was an assault I would think a police report would be the
1st order of business.

I think you’re missing the point.
The coop should be responsible and send that shareholder a warning letter so it doesn’t happen again on the building’s property.

This happened in the coop.
If somebody punches somebody else isn’t the coop responsible if somebody gets hurt?

You didn’t say “again” the first post here.
Sure, if the co-op did know they had a dangerous “pusher” on their premises, one with a bad propensity to go around “pushing” people on the shoulder (shudder!) it could have reached the pushing point so they might have had some responsibility to warn that culprit pusher and warned the innocent that they might be “pushee” victims if they weren’t careful.
Hope they’ve finally caught and stopped that bad pusher.
