We are considering purchasing a 24 unit apt building to convert to condos. The property is in a resort area with a decent market. It appears to need updating since it was built in 1975. Any ideas on due diligence, additional caviats to the offer? We are trying for owner financing, but if not?
Does anyone have any experience with this? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Wajlaz,

Condo conversions have been a popular topic here over the years. We have a couple of folks that have extensive experience and have been good enough to share it with us. A search of the newsgroup archives will yield a hundred or more posts.

The most detailed post is a brief posted by Jim Rayner. The direct link is:

You might also use your computer’s “Control F” search function (in Windows) on the current newsgroup page. That will highlight the most recent posts on the subject. There have been some good discussions lately.
