Commercial or Industrial? - Posted by Burt

I would think a basic heated garage, small warehouse, or even a small office/retail bldg with an overhead door would be sufficient for woodworking purposes. Do you need retail space or a showroom? Industrial classifications are characterized by slab thickness, the type of steel framing, number of overhead doors, ceiling height, loading docks, etc… Most true industrial uses would be overkill for what you’re doing. No point in buying more than you need.

I would like to buy a small piece of commercial real estate for a woodworking business - furniture making. Should I be looking for commercial or light industrial or industrial? What do these classifications really mean?
