I am in the process of purchasing a new home, my first home. Everything has been approved, but we have not closed yet. The title search found that the seller had several unpaid liens against the property, which are being cleared up. In the process, we were given access to the home and have moved in, through a Possession Agreement Contract. Once we moved in last weekend, the seller of the house (who lives directly behind the property in an apartment building) is now refusing to proceed with closing and withholding from signing over the contract because we have pets and he doesn’t like dogs. His viewpoint is for me to either get rid of the pets or he won’t sign paperwork at the closing.
Can he pull out of the contract? Can I sue him for discrimination if he continues to withdraw from the sell of the home? We’ve already moved in and I have no intention of moving again. It took me a long time to locate the perfect house and now that I’ve basically bought it, he’s being difficult. If he continues to stand his intention of backing out of the contract, what can I do to force him into completing the sell of the property?

I am deployed to Iraq and my wife is handling everything with the close on a house we were looking at while i was home. My wife did not like our agent because he has been avoiding her calls and has pretty much not been in the deal since we got the bank involved in the closing. My wife has fired him and they the agents company is telling her that she must close on the house or we will not get our earnest money back. Please respond we need your advise.
many thanks
