You can just pull it off and cut it off at the roots.It will look like the front of the house. A cleaning with a pressure washer should fix it. You will be able to paint the trim and gutters.
When you cut it off it is apt to grow up again from the roots. If you want to avoid this, spray the leaves with Roundup and wait until it is dead (2 weeks) then pull it down.
Has anyone had experience with removing climbing Ivy from the side of a home? I am putting an offer in on a property which is brick and has ivy covering one complete wall. It looks like someone has torn down vines that went halfway along the front of the home. There are still pieces of vine and marks. Is it time consuming? Can you get it clean enough to paint trim,gutters. What about getting it out of the rough finish of brick? Best technique?
