The attorney “should” prepare a HUD-1 for you. You’ll use that when you file your tax return to show your sales price and the one you received on purchase to show that end.

In Texas: We just sold our empty lake lot to a friend. He’s already paid us in cash. We are using a law firm to transfer ownership with the county (warranty deed). Do we need to have any other document to show the transfer of money? I’m sure this is a stupid question. But can we just do a simple bill of sale? Or is there something more formal we need to use?
