Are you asking if the other side of a duplex can be a second home? Is this for lender second home programs or IRS tax?

If it’s for the loan program as long as you live in one side it’s called a 2unit SFD and follows the owner occupied rules for the program. A lender conciders a second home to be a min of 50 miles from your primary residence
