joanna, yes, your husbands relative has half a proerty listed, which suggests he isn’t to bright or experienced. it also suggests he isn’t a broker and so i would contact the actual broker and inform him or her that you are not going to approve any offers presented by the relative for your half of the property. I would then tell your husband you are going to find two top agents that work your area and you both can set down with each and he can pick one. they won’t have any goal in mind other than to sell the propery for the best price. so you can both get on with your lives. I was a california real estate broker for 36 years and had husbands trying to take advantge of their ex-wife and vice-versa which i wouldn’t allow.

I am divorced and my divorce decree orderd the sale of my home. My ex husband hired an agent to list my house, the agent is related to him and he is not working with me at all. I did not sign the listing agreement, only my ex husband, is it valid? Can I refuse to work with him and hire another agent.
