Marie, drive to you local Courthouse and look up the subject property at the tax assessors office. Usually there will be a adress and phone number, and name of owner. Armed with this info contact the owner and simply ask to buy property. Listen to your potential sellers story and find out what they need. If they are interested in selling, check out comps in the neighborhood and make an offer. Worry about financing after you have a contract to purchase. Remember use only other peoples money. Borrow your down payment from seller or hard money lender, mom etc.

a house in my neighborhood that i’ve always admired was recently boarded up with the occupant’s furniture thrown out in the front.
i would love to be able to buy it (rent with option to buy even)
Problem # 1 - have very little money
Problem # 2 - no idea how to go about finding out anything about the house. from what i’ve seen on these boards it would seem i should go to the town’s hall and run a title search on the property? then what?
any help would be greatly appreciated.
