The aluminum will work fine to seal IF it has the fiber in it. Thats all I’ve ever used. If it doesnt have the fiber then Its not going to seal a very big hole. I’ve never used Kool seal so I cant really compare the two.

At Big Lots today they have Brite-Alum mobile home roof sealant (5 gal) for $30, made by a company called Century… I’ve used Kool Seal in the past but it’s considerably more expensive, around $50 IIRC.
Can anyone comment on the quality of this stuff at least if it works okay for leaky roofs on your lonnie deals? I suspect it’s top notch stuff, just like everything else you get at Big Lots…
From being around the shipping business about all my life, I would venture that the koolseal you bought was either… dented cans that the wholesaler cant sell, or possibly a shipment of the material going someplace and got lost in shipping, or the manu. sent more than the wholesaler ordered, therefore, the wholesaler dont accept it cause its not ordered, the manu. dont want it cause they will have to pay return shipping, so someone says Hey, I would like to buy that, whats your best price? you know the routine.
I think that the aluminum paint is designed to prevent corrosion of the metal roof, and not to seal - just my opinion. KoolSeal is designed to goop and seal the seams and roof
different product; unless someone points out my error, I wouldnt buy aluminum paint at big lots, or anywhere else, to seal a roof . . . only to preserve it.

Thanks Steve. Good advice, I’ll pass. I’m still smarting over the four heat-tape units I bought on deep clearance at Meijer (a big store like Wal-Mart here), which are not up to code for mobile home use in Michigan.
