I am trying to find out how do you locate bank owned prperties in your area? do you go to agent? bank directly?

Try working with both. Many banks have a standard policy of turning REO properties over to agents as soon as they are received.
Other banks will try to sell them on thier own and if the property is a slow seller they will list with an agent.
Keep your options open.

Yes what I would do is give the local a call and if they are not much of a help to you ask them for the HQ number and contact them.

There is always at least one person in charge of Reo’s at a bank. Ask the branch manager they should be able to steer you in the right dircetion.
