You might as well do a search at state level too. The state laws will apply where there are no local ordinances. Often however there will be no provision for enforcement locally.

J Miller,
I look at it this way…
I just assume they are illegal EVERYWHERE, since this is the case 99% of the time.
The enforcement of the laws, or ordinances regarding them is what varies.
Some places are VERY strict, taking them down and fining you right away.
Others leave them up and just don’t care.
Some remove them when they get a chance, and may call, or write a warning.
Frankly though, they pull enough calls for me to use them no matter what.
I am somewhat careful.
If I know an area is strict on them, and they are removed FAST, or they are fining me, then we obviously avoid that area.

I know some here might think this is callous, but I like to make sure my phone rings every day…feeding my family is a bigger priority than following a sign ordinance for me.
I also do not beleive in overkill.
While I do place a LARGE number of signs out, they are spread out quite a bit.
I noticed a newbie the other day in my area that has placed a few signs up. They seem to have concentrated them in a few block radius of each other, and put 4 at each intersection. With each corner covered, it is more likely someone will not like them and the city or county will remove all signs they see as a result. (Theirs and mine, and any others they run accross.)
So, avoid doing that.

Anyway, sorry to ramble, but Bandit signs are my personal favorite way to advertise. (one of many things we do however.)

Take care,
Jim FL

See if your city or township is online and if they post all the city ordnances online. Otherwise check if the chamber of commerce is online in your area. They will sometimes post the ordances or provide links to them also. If that all fails then go down to the city hall and ask for a copy of the ordnances.

Your city or township is the one that usually has the laws on signs.

Jim, I’ve had very good luck with them also.

I’m just curious… how many signs do you put out each week, and do you leave them out, or pick them up Sunday night?

Thanks,

Scott
