Asset Protection/Atlanta Convention - Posted by Patti_MO

What had me troubled was how much we are at risk (assets) for being sued. Part of his discussion regarded how you should hold your personal assets to shield them from lawsuit exposure. The Family Limited Partnership is one method of doing that. He also talked about having your business operate as a Corporation. Being one that gets the glazed over eyes when talking legal matters, he had my full attention. I currently have a LLC but is that enough? How do I protect my own home and bank accounts? Well I called my attorney (who also represents quite a few investors) and when I told him that I wanted to review my business and how to protect my assets, he said, ahh another one from the convention. He didn’t give me any other details, so we will talk about it at our meeting. So I was wondering if anyone else has contacted their attorney and what they found out.

I thought Jay Mitten’s talk about asset protection was very intriguing as well as very scary. I’m due to meet with my attorney this week and it seems like several of us that went to the conference have called him! How many folks out there actually use Family Limited Partnerships? Has anyone talked to their attorney about any of the topics at the conference and what did they say?

I actually attended a conference and bought the Asset Protection program. I am interested in selling the “Never Used” program for a discounted rate if anyone is interested. Please contact me if you’re interested. Thanks!

What specifically are you referring to as “scary”? I missed Dale Wests’ presentation.
