Anyone using a small office phone system… - Posted by Rick Shepard

to manage incoming calls? We buy, fix and rent or sell houses, duplexes and mobile homes and get a ton of calls from ads, tenants, etc. I currently use my cell phone in the ads since my wife and I have 4 kids and she doesn’t really have time to be answering the constantly ringing phone at home. Is their a product out there that will give callers options to choose from and enable us to direct callers to our website and/or describe our available properties to try to weed out the tire kickers.
I’m not really at the point in my mind where I want to open an outside office and hire a secretary when I still feel like with a product like this, I can handle things. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Rick Shepard

I recently started using Corner Cube… it is awesome as to what it can do… Answers all incoming calls, many interactive choices for callers to be directed to other mailboxes which can dispense info to callers about properties or other services. If you so desire, they can press 0 at any time, and the ser5vice will transfer the call to any designated number you choose.
Powerful tool that costs about 12 bucks per month… slightly higher for more minutes, but very reasonable for what it does… The other services mentioned may do all this and more, but so far I am quite pleased with what this one does for me… Also incoming toll free number, if you desire…

Rick,
Similiar to what Bill said, I use Freedomvoice.com.
It’s awesome!! You can have different mailboxes set up, you can have the messages emailed to you directly.
You can also set it up so you can receive and send faxes via your cpu.
Not to mention that it’s very affordable and their customer service is possibly the best I’ve ever came across with any large company.
I promise I don’t work for them or anything. I’m just one very satisfied customer!

Hi Rick,
Im using a free voicemail service called PrivatePhone. It works great for me and the price is right. It holds over 10,000 calls before you have to delete some to make room for new calls.Go to PrivatePhone.com

Rick:
One time when I did more rentals, and ran a consulting service, when I’m out with clients, and don’t want to chat with renters while in a client’s office, (it’ rude) I would have my calls forwarded to an answering service where a “human” actually picks up the phone, and take a message.
If it’s an emergency, back then, the answering service will beep me.
At the time, a dozen years ago, folks tend to hang up hearing a recording, and go on to the next ad. I find people more used to voice boxes nowadays.
Even after someone checks the website, if I’m a renter, I still want to talk to a human to make an appointment, ask a basic question or two, before seeing the place. If the owner is “too busy” to talk to me at this point, imagine if I had a toilet problem.
Where do I report a overflowing toilet on the website??

I used to use one…but it made my little opperation feel to big. I want sellers to be comfortable with me and not think of me as big buisness.
If I mostly did rentals…then I would use it again.
