I live in a big area, lots of radio stations, lots of “I buy houses” ads and lots of investors.

I was curious as to those investors who have used radio, how strong the results were and the cost/reward ratio you felt after using radio? I dont have a problem with the message, more of the issue about cost and what kind of stations to target?

Thanks much!

I heard LeGrand talking about it at MIS and he’s running 4 one week spots to test. He suggested stations where people are actively listening versus background noise. Recommendations were talk, sports, and religious stations. Let the station pick the times to get better rates. Of course you should be able to negotiate lower rates for more spots.

I thought about running ads during our local real estate shows but I noticed they were struggling to get callers so either they had low listenership, people weren’t listening, or didn’t care much to call. I’m not sure which.

He also mentioned having a radio show and discussed how to do it. I’m playing around with the idea of a 24 hour (taped initially, live down the road…maybe) radio show interviewing local experts (attorney, cpa, realtor, brokers, city officials, people on the street, etc.) about the real estate market. Sounded like fun and I have the infrastructure to stream, handle interviews live and by phone, and the personnel to do field work. I also have a few local gurus that would have their own shows. Advertising by brokers, agents, contractors, etc. would help foot the bill which isn’t much actually, most would be marketing. And guess who would have several spots throughout the day? I’m still just tossing it around.

Good luck with your spots.
