What’s the problem with your other tile floors? I live in So Cal in a town
with heavy old Spanish style decor…tile is everywhere. My neighbor
across the street is a tile contractor and all she does is restore old tile–
no new installs. There is another neighbor a block away that owns a
Grout Doctor service. What da ya wanna know?
I have tried both bleach and oxyclean both work however the reason your grout gets dirty is that it is porous, so it will just get dirty again. What did the job for me was grout paint, then a sealer, made it look brand new, and no more on my hands and knees with a toothbrush every month or so scrubbing grout lines.
If that doesn’t work, buy yourself one of those dremel rotary tools. Buy a tiny carbide grinding bit for it. That will very quickly grind out the old grout so you an install new grout. Don’t forget your goggles!!

Unfortunately, I have lots of experience with grout and mildew.
Oxyclean and other “oxygen bleach” cleaners are great products for
many organic stains. It’s only OK on grout. Bleach is better. However,
if you are cleaning up after months of use, the bleach won’t get to the
mildew stains because of hard water and soap scum build-up. So you
first need to use a hard water/scale remover. Rinse very, very well.
Then use bleach and scrubbing.
However, if the grout has any cracks, however small, the mildew most
likely won’t go away. Also, if silicone or vinyl putty has been used to
replace the grout anywhere, especially around the base (tub to tile),
mildew will remain even after bleach. In those cases you must remove
the silicone and replace (or replace with new grout).
