Anyone ever have a home collapse during move? - Posted by Bert_NH

I have dragged 3 homes to the landfill within the past 2 months. Missing windows, warped walls, holes in floor, etc. They all made the 30 mile trip.

I have heard of a doublewide section crashing on the road though, but its much better to move a singlewide.

I would think a 14x56 1983 is definately worth saving especially if you have short lots. Make sure the right size tires are on the home and that they are filled with air. Check the axles and make sure they aren’t bent. Then cross your fingers and tell the driver to take it easy.

I own a piece of land which I rent to a homeowner. Their home is in real bad shape. Its an 83 14x56 with water damaged floors. They are leaving and will give me the home. At the same time, I found someone who wants to buy the lot from me for more than its value. I also own a MH Park about 40 miles away from this place and have a lot to put this old moho on and repair/sell in Lonnie style. But I’m afraid the walls might collapse during a move bacause of the floor being rotted next to an outside wall in the living room. Anyone have any experience/horror stories about this? I’m not sure if I should pursue the move.
Thanks in advance

you should have no problem doing this. i have moved hundreds of homes with floor troubles, you still have floor joists to hold the walls up. it would have little bearing on wether it will fall apart. the biggest problem is people not knowing how to move it and blaming problems on the home. visit www.imove4you.com for more answers.
