Why not start your own? It’s not too hard to do. Here’s an example:
Starting you own club isn’t that hard, here’s what you can do…
You start the club and it has 1 member for now, you. Because of that you are now the contact person. And with that post your club here in the club section and any other web sites you can(they are out there). YOU WILL start getting calls! Being a member of the Apartment Association, I was able to put the word out about this new club on their e-mail loop and that brought members too! You get the idea.
Now what? Well prior to this you should have a location, time and date, set-up to meet…let’s see…McDonalds comes to mind…they have chairs, tables, and IT’S FREE! So you meet at Micky D’s for a few meetings until you start to out grow them. In the mean time you should be looking for other locations as well so you will have some place to go at that time.
Our club was started by “Matt”, who came here on CREonline and figured out who was from our area and e-mailed us. He then set up a meeting and 4 people showed up at the “club house” of his apartment complex. From there our next couple of meetings were at some bars (burp), then we moved to a family resturant until we got “kicked out” of there by having about 15 people present and asking for seperate checks :). We then moved into the back hall of a local VFW post, and are now at a Best Western Hotel. This is a lower end(but really not bad…actually really nice) hotel that has meeting rooms available. I say lower end because I called a “nicer” one and for a room for about 50 people, it’s $600! per meeting, Ouch! Although they’ll give a discount (unknown how much), if I “lock” in a number of meetings.
Anyway, that’s really all you need to do. I believe this is truly a case of “Build it and they will come”!
