additional Sheets “deception” - Posted by fc

Posted by fc on January 13, 2003 at 08:06:07:

I posted the “deception” material earlier at this site,
and to be honest, the “billing” issues go well beyond those stated.
My daughter ordered this “course” via the phone number provided in the TV infomercial. Her name is different than mind as is her address.
The material that was sent (which remains unopened until all of this is cleared up) to me. A gift from my daughter. A wonderful justure on a struggling college student’s resources.
Not only was she billed for material and “programs” and the such, for which she clearly did not order or authorize be charged to the credit card she presented, but I was billed for the exact same material, as well.
In fact, on the billing (I know it’s computer generated, and we need to blame computers for all of our ills) it is stated that though the special TV intro offer of $9.95 was collected through my credit card, they have not been able to collect the additional charges for the course(s) sent to me.
“MY” credit card was never involved. I didn’t order the course, my daughter (name different as well as mailing address) did. As a gift. Yet, here is an organization attempting to not only collect money from my daughter for something she neither ordered or authorized, but that same entity is trying to collect an equal amount from me.
My attempts at reaching this company to correct the situation has fallen exactly on zero as has my daughter’s attempts.
Given this “course” is offered carrying Carleton Sheets’ name and images and is probably licensed to the company providing the infomercials, it remains his responsiblity to ensure that everything is above board.
We’d have gladly paid for the “base” course, however, we did not join an affiliate program, or any other aspect of this public offering. And we wouldn’t have issue(s) were
this so-called course were honestly disclosed as to price either in the infomercial or through the operators taking the orders. Again, however, the fact remains that my daughter asked the price several times and was not told what that would be. She believed, as most “reasonable” people might, that the actual price would be disclosed when the “30-day $9.95 introductory offer” was delivered. That was not the case, and after several days of trying to establish the actual price of the “course”, we got distracted by some very, very serious medical problems within our immediate family. The Sheets stuff quickly fell to a far back burner and we tried to address what was our family’s immediate needs.
I am somewhat confident that no one wants to be billed for things they haven’t authorized or ordered and would be just as upset as we are when that unauthorized billing wasn’t done just once, but was attempted via other family members as well.
If Carleton Sheets isn’t aware of these practices, then, by all means, he should be and address them for what they are, deceptive practices.
If he is aware of these practices, then nothing else need be said.
There is more. Much more, and when the “more” is added, this situation becomes even more bizzare!

The Sheets organization is a reputable one! I had a similar problem, and called their offices to get it cleared up. Call them. They will help. He’s been in business for a million years because his program works, not because he rips people off.

And, no, I’m not an employee. I’m just a guy that used the materials to buy my first investment property.

The full price for the course is plainly stated on the info mercials, and also included on the billing that comes in the box with the course, I had no confusion whatsoever with the cost and payment information with my CS No Money Down course.
I have also not been asked, ore approached in any way to join any of the affiliate programs.
I have seen a few people post saying they were not told the full priec or that they were automatically entered into and billed for, affiliate programs.
I myself had none of these problems. I watched the infomercial, say the downpayment price and the payment methods including amounts, sent in the downpayment, and have paid the first payment… one more payment and I am paid in full.

sometimes you have to pay close attention to what you click and what you read, The whole problem could simply be a mistaken mouse click if ordering on the web, or a mistakenly read line in reading the sales information.

First, I like to make a comment. I think you need to kinda relax and let the credit card system work. Second, I would think the Sheets’ organization is rather large. He cann’t oversea each tranaction. Write a letter to your credit card company and send another letter to CS and enclose a copy of your CC ltr. We’re in the electronic age and things seem to happen. Keep you letters short, business like and to the point.

You’ll get action.

Good luck
