AFAIK you can’t “add” a name to a deed. You can however sell or give them an interest. Let’s say you, lorna own a place and want to add your sister, mooney to the deed.

The transaction would be; I lorna doone do hereby sell a 1/2 interest in XYZ property to my sister Mooney Doone.

What are you trying to accomplish, maybe we can come up with some better ideas.

You just use a new deed to that person, conveying that undivided interest you set forth…half, third, etc.

There is a small problem in that Deed forms are kinda hard for a layman to locate and therefore a deed is usually done by escrow on bar ass’n approved forms…so you should talk to an escrow co. and tell them what you want and they can probably help you.

If not, have your lawyer do this for you as he/she has the right to prepare deeds and any other documents for their clients.

It is not totally simple or just a matter of filling out a form, as the pro doing it will know from your instructions exactly what kind of interest you’re giving the new grantee and will complete the deed form accordingly.

Done wrong it could cause you big headaches later on.
