I’ve tried this too, but have yet to find the first free 401k form.
The reason is simple…the 401k sponsoring companies make a lot of their income drafting “custom” (probably not all that unique to each client)401K adoption docs; and they aren’t about to give that knowledge of theirs away.
And since their clients have paid some substantial fees in having their “custom” plans drafted, they aren’t that eager to give that plan to anybody.
I made a deal with a friend who bought his a few years back, and paid upward of $7500 for it, and sold me the right to copy it for $500.
So if you’ll ask around you can probably make a similar deal with somebody who has a self-directed (the best kind, because then you can invest in any kind of investment)plan.
