10th CRE Online Convention full details... - Posted by Jeanne

You hit the nail on the head, my friend. This venue was carefully chosen. It’s nice, new, clean, and five or six miles south of the airport and the southern end of the Strip.

If people want to see Vegas, come early and stay longer. Most attendees will be there to learn and network.

Okay, we’re sending out an email notification to our subscribers first thing tomorrow morning, but I can’t sit on this anymore! We have all the details for the 2008 CRE Online Convention up on the “convention” page:

There is an early-bird discount, and we have really kept the admission price low. The hotel is really nice. I can’t wait to see old friends and meet some new ones.

Me, myself and I have an opinion and only just that. We all talked it over and thought Las Vegas is not a good location. Here is our the reason. The convention is a great place to network, meet old friends/posters and meet new ones as well. LV with all of its numerous outside attractions/distractions (everybody knows what they are) alot of people including me, myself and I, will be experiencing those outside of the seminars. Maybe some hard core REI’s will avoid such activities and “hang” in the hotel until the wee hours but I see that as not so likely. “Man, this is Vegas”! Again, just our opinion. Having never seen LV except from the air, the curiousity will get the best of us and the sidetractions will take over. I would be particular interested in the shows as that is what I used to play on ships years ago as a musician. I still know some musicians there and could get free admission, and back stage too. Hard to pass up. In Atlanta (and St. Louis), there was really nothing else as interesting or so near to do, so the audience was voluntarily captive. There was total immersion in REI. Three days of non-stop, concentrated learning and motivation. The afterhours in LV will dispurse a lot of people, especially those that have seen some of the speakers a few times before. I will probably go back to my younger days and spend most of my money on booze, women and gambling and the rest I just wasted! I don’t want to to that again.
I’m sure that some of the information will be new and updated but will that stop the curious from roaming? We shall see. Now with all that said, on March 27th I will be beginning my second week in Kauai, Hawaii that was booked way in advance. I’ve mentioned having the convention there before but for the same reason explained above, I think that is not a good idea. I would be checking out the Hawaiian real estate far too much, including the “wet” real estate that surrounds most islands. All islands actually. Surfs up! Mucho Alohas to all attendees, future and past. Final conclusion, any convention is much better than none! '09 here we come! I have to plan these things way in advance. Sure gonna miss Cletus. He seems to be a good show all to himself.

I showed up last year and found I was the only one there. So I did the only thing I could do…I sat in my hotel room, got drunk and read all those guru books that had been collecting dust on my shelves.

Anyway, the market was a little different back then so I had a lot of shoeshine boys giving me advice on how to make money rehabbing pre-construction properties. I have to admit that tactic was not in any of the guru courses I had collected up to that point, so I was glad I made the trip. I sure missed seeing all my friends from CREO, though.

Anyway, I don’t own an early bird, (I do have a one legged parrot, but he never gets up early) so I guess I don’t qualify for the discount. But I have a sneaking suspicion that the hotel will be better this year than last year. I could only afford a room at the Motel 5, and the room service wasnâ??t anywhere near as good as it is at a Motel 6. Those folks really know how to pamper Olâ?? Cletus. They actually made my bed before I checked in.

Anyway, Iâ??m glad you folks are throwinâ?? another convention this year. I have missed it three years in a row now, and for a while there I thought Iâ??d never have another chance to miss it. Perhaps this year will be my year to go.

I’ve stayed at the Southpoint and it is at the southernmost end of the Strip. It is relatively isolated by Vegas standards. There is a shuttle bus (very slow) that can take folks to the main Strip area. Otherwise it’s about a $10 cab ride.

Now this hotel is a casino…so that will be a distraction. But on the whole I think those that are there for the convention will be spending time networking instead of gambling…except maybe the speculators!
