You have a couple options here. You can contact your current lender. Or, you could contact other lenders in your area and ask them what their lending policy is regarding people who had short sales. The answers from the lenders may depend on the reason your home went into a short sale situation.

What is the effect of a Short Sale on Seller’s Credit Report?
How long am I going to be on the “black list” at the credit bureaus, before I can purchase another property. Currently I have a house in Michigan, I tried to sell it for the last 1.5 yrs, started at $229,000, kept dropping the price, and now is listed at $169,000. Received an offer last week for $139,000.
I don’t know what to do, because I moved out of Michigan, and I would like to be able to buy a home in the near future for my family. The economic depression in Michigan is unique…
Any ideas?
