I ran into a couple who own a gorgeous, 1500 sq. ft. house right on the bay in Kill Devil Hills, NC. They have $75,000 into the house, owned free and clear. It is listed at $175,000, which is about comparable TO similar properties. They desperately want to move back to New York, and in several months they have had about 7 lookers and no offers. Might it make sense to find out from a realtor the price at which this property would sell yesterday, make an offer about $15,000-20,000 below that number and attempt to flip the contract? Just asking.
