In California there is a code that they have to pay the rent up to date to appeal an eviction. There is no similar law in Texas? Also in California an “unlawful detainer” suit has priority over all other cases. Is that also not true? Ask your attorney to ask the judge for an order to evict them while their appeal is taking place on the merits (assuming they have no merits).

Yes, a determined deadbeat that knows the system can string you along for years!! The only defences are to check references, take a good size deposit and rent to deep pocket renters that are not judgement proof.

Remember, life will go on after they are gone!

P.S. My deadbeats paid up on the day before the sheriff was to arrive!

i have been trying (with attorney) to evict these deadbeats…each time these people contest the eviction…we go to court…I win…then evict them again…they contest…goes to court…
what the “…” is going on?

my attorney says the deadbeats can appeal all the way to the supreme court!..they keep making up lies and stories…but i still get possession…BUT they keep on a goin!

they have used up 6 attorneys and have represented themselves a couple of times (and used that for an excuse for the case to be heard again!)

any ideas???
