I had several clients that had assets and those assets had nothing to do with qualifying for social security disability. after 2 years they automatically qualified for medicare.
Maybe it affects medicaid I don’t know. I suggest you contact one of the law firms that specializes in this field such as Binder & Binder for a free interview.

Hi there Experts:
My Mother has diabetes, weekly dialysis and is in poor physical condition. Oh,and she doesnt have any money. However, she cannot apply for a disability since she has a trailer and land in Oregon that she does not live in. She has been trying to sell it for the past year with no luck ,since both her potential buyers couldn’t get a Mobile home loan. The Social security administration says giving it away to one of us kids would be viewed as a “trick” to eliminate assets. Does anyone have any ideas or experience in this area? I have a few rental properties, and am willing to help, but I really dont know what my options are here. Any help much appreciated Thanks! Jerry

It appears your mom has an asset that she could turn into income if she were to sell the trailer in OR on a note.
If you’d get me the particulars of that trailer and land I’d be glad to look into it and see if I could help her sell it.
