The average mutual fund trustee would not allow those type investments. Certain trustee’s may. Others may not for administrative purposes. How would they value a lien you bought for 10 cents on the dollar.

Bud is correct. A limited number of IRA custodians will accept these types of assets, but the valuation issues are the problem. We have accepted some of these in IRAs, email me if you are interested.
