see if you can back up the transfer that it doesn’t look like you’re getting 1/2 for nothing.
Other option I have seen used is gifting.

My brother and I built a house in WI less than a year ago. His name is on title and on the loan. If we were to sell the property for a profit could we quitclaim my name onto the title so he would not be held liable for the taxes on my portion?
