I am going on vacation for a month and I have a couple houses that are in escrow (and a couple that I hope will be soon ;>). Anyhow the title company is behind schedual getting me some of the paperwork that I need to sign before I leave.
Is it possible to give my wife “power of Attorney” over these properties while I am gone? So she can finish the closing.
Is it as simple as filling out the form and getting it notorized?

Gene,
I assume you’re selling, not buying. Anyway, the title company that is doing the closing should be able to get you the POA that they require, but I prefer to review the docs myself. Where I am, the only one that needs to be an original notarized signature is the deed. I will normally sign the deed before I leave town and then do the rest via fax and/or email. I have an account set up with myfax.com for $10 per month to make it easier for me.

You also have to make sure that whoever you designate and the format are acceptable to the other party(ies). A POA is giving permission for someone else to act in your behalf, it doesn’t compel third parties to accept their actions.
I often take week long (skiing) vacations without my wife. I think for a month I might want to have the docs shipped to me wherever I might be, just in case, LOL.
