assist people in the purchase of a home? I don’t want to operate in a grey area, but I don’t want to become an agent. How would a fee be charged?

In Texas, you can only charge a fee for helping to sell or buy real estate if you’re licensed real estate agent or licensed attorney.

Good reason to get licensed - Posted by John Merchant

Go talk to some RE brokers about getting licensed.

If you really like helping people find houses, why not do it legally and get paid for it?

When I went through this years ago I was amazed at how much I learned from the licensing course and you will be too.

I was talking to a friend of mine yesterday and he was telling me he and his wife have sold about 75 homes in past couple of years. And in the process made some pretty good money.

When he got licensed he was already a pretty knowledgable RE investor so not all was new to him; but I’m sure he’d tell you he also learned a lot he hadn’t known.

I some states (including all those I invest in) only a licensed agent can be compensated in a Real Estate transaction.
