Sounds like your LLC got sued.
While you say “civil infraction”, I have no idea what that means, never hearing the term or expression before.
An infraction is a violation of a rule or a law, and that’s a legal decision; not something you’d get served with, but you could get served with a complaint or citation by some government body accusing your LLC of breaking some law.
LLC got served with a civil infraction, but my name is not named on the CI. The property has not been owned by my LLC for about a year. It was placed into a trust with my name as trustee. I no longer own the property.
I have two questions:
Because I was not named on the CI, can they come after me personally?
2.What is the penalty(action taken) if they find the LLC at fault (I know they shouldn’t but this is a manicupality here).
I’m consulting with an atty, but curious of if this has happened to others.
Thanks for your help.
I don’t know the details, & it is always a good idea to run things by your attorney. However, my initial reaction would be put on something pretty & pink & pay city hall a very friendly visit to straighten out things.
The pink part probably won’t work for you, James, but if someone does help you out, I’d sure make a 2nd visit w/some chocolates in hand–
